Director, Claims Services

Reporting to the Senior Director of Insurance Operations, the position holder plays a strategic role within our company, both in terms of our brand image and the evolution of the claims team. As a leader, you will oversee all activities related to the settlement of individual and group insurance benefits for our health, life, and living benefits insurance products. You will also be our expert advisor, conducting market surveillance and representing the company in disputes, while sharing your expertise at events as a specialized insurance speaker.


Specific Tasks:

  • Positively influence the company's brand image and contribute to the evolution of the claims services
  • Supervise a team of five coordinators to ensure smooth settlement activities
  • Create a distinctive employee experience through your interpersonal qualities
  • Identify improvement opportunities and optimize our customer services
  • Implement innovative processes to ensure service quality
  • Support your teams in recruitment, training, development, and performance review
  • Manage financial aspects while aiming for productivity and efficiency
  • Cultivate strong relationships with reinsurers and other external partners
  • Maintain an agile operational structure to integrate new products and partnerships
  • Communicate and embody the company's mission within your team
  • Collaborate with various internal teams to ensure regulatory compliance


Qualifications and Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or any other relevant field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in insurance
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership role 
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Bilingual (French and English); you will be in contact with English-speaking clients and partners in the course of your duties, both written and verbal.

Claims

Our team actively manages disability claims: first by determining eligibility according to the terms of the insurance contract and then by deploying proactive action plans to enable the insured to return to work as quickly and safely as possible. We work with both individual insurance and group coverage provided by an employer or group. The analysts work in collaboration with medical consultants, including a psychiatrist, physiotherapy and occupational therapy consultants, as well as in-house rehabilitation consultants.
